Duffy
Julia Duffy, Director, Talent Strategy & Workforce Planning, Pythian

Julia is an HR leader with over a decade of experience. Since 2016, she has worked with Tehama’s Executive Team to lay the foundations for talent attraction and workforce planning. Since 2011, Julia has been a HR Leader at Pythian partnering to support the business growth from 90 employees to over 450 today.

Julia has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. She holds numerous professional HR certifications, is a keynote speaker on talent management trends, and in 2014 won the Vision Award for Innovation in Talent Acquisition.

Outside of work, Julia enjoys volunteering, travelling and spending time with her family & friends.

 


Anderson
Christina Anderson, CHRP Global Programs & Talent Acquisition Operations Manager, Pythian

Christina Anderson leads the global talent acquisition operations and its associated programs at Pythian and brings over a decade of experience to the role.

Since 2012 when she joined Pythian, Christina has been instrumental in operationalising the hiring model and tool efficiency to support Pythian’s growth from 100 employees to more than 420 employees in 2018. Christina is also a champion for change, leading Pythian’s diversity and inclusion movement the Pythian Program, an initiative aimed at increasing the number of women in senior roles within the IT sector and encouraging, promoting and retaining women and young girls in STEM fields. Christina also built Pythian’s student co-op and internship program across all business areas, helping bring in students from across Canada to the Ottawa headquarters in tech and non tech roles. Additionally, she plays a key strategic role in driving awareness of Pythian through social media and organizing Pythian’s participation and sponsorship at community events.

Christina has extensive industry experience in both the private and public sectors in Canada and the United Kingdom. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours from Carleton University and has achieved the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation from the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA).

Outside of work, Christina is passionate about travelling, photography and engaging today’s youth.

 


Molina
Melodie Molina, Partner, PwC Law LLP

Specializing in Canadian immigration matters, Melodie Molina has extensive experience in corporate immigration law and cross-border issues, where she provides legal assistance and advice to multinational corporations, small businesses and individuals alike in developing immigration strategies and ensuring successful cross-border travel. Melodie’s immigration law expertise includes admissibility issues, permanent residence and temporary status applications, including work permits, study permits and temporary resident visas. Prior to joining PwC Law LLP, Melodie worked with the Appeals Chamber at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in the Hague, Netherlands.

Aamna Contractor - Product Owner, People Experience at TELUS Digital

Talent-Seeker, HR Transformer + Data Enthusiast. Aamna has worked with award winning recruitment agencies, tech start-ups and investment firms in Downtown Toronto. She has matched an abundance of talent with life changing opportunities and delivered customized in-house solutions encompassing talent acquisition, organization design, people analytics and HR technology throughout her career. Having joined TELUS Digital as a Talent Partner and now Product Owner, she is working on having her team burn brighter as they grow and tackle new digital initiatives. When she is not actively sourcing for candidates or partnering with Hiring Managers, she is working on strategically optimizing the candidate experience, analyzing/visualizing people data for her leadership team and building technical tools for her team to streamline day-to-day operations.

 


Johnston
Ross Johnston, Executive Director, Co-operative Education, HIRE Waterloo, University of Waterloo

As the Executive Director, Co-operative Education, Ross is accountable for meeting and exceeding co-op employment rates (which was 97.7% last year) while maintaining and enhancing employer relationships with over 6,900 organizations across more than 60 countries. To meet employment targets, Ross oversees co-op best practices and continuous improvement of the co-op experience for students and employers. To ensure academic integration and learning outcomes within the pedagogical model of co-operative education, Ross manages the ongoing faculty and campus partnerships.

Ross joined the University of Waterloo in 2009 as Director, Employment Relations before becoming the Executive Director in 2017. Previous roles include Director of Attraction & Retention with MTS Allstream, founder of a talent management and career advice consultancy and CIBC Senior Director of Recruitment Operations globally.

Prior to living in Canada, Ross was Head of Training & Development for a UK financial institution. Ross has extensive experience in Recruitment, Strategic HR, Sales and Business Development and has an Executive MBA from Bradford University’s School of Management in the UK.

Ross currently serves as the Vice President, Global Network with the Co-operative Education & Internship Association (CEIA) and has been a board member since 2017. He’s also an elected board member of Co-operative Education and Work Integrated Learning (CEWIL) Canada, formerly the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE) and is the President-Elect for Education Work Ontario.

Jay Zaidi, Head of Talent, Rangle.io

As Head of Talent at Rangle.io, Jay is responsible for leading the team and organizational strategy to acquire the best talent possible. In addition, Jay is part of Bersin Deloitte’s Global Talent Acquisition roundtable and has spoken at numerous Canadian and International Conferences, such a Linkedin Talent Connect and Digital Talent Acquisition summit in Toronto and Chicago.

Jay’s career started in Information Technology at IBM and then two start-ups during the first tech boom, before shifting into the ultra-competitive world of IT Recruitment. Over the years, Jay has held recruitment consulting positions with the Ontario Government, Sapient and L3 prior to assuming roles as Head of Recruitment for TMX Group (Toronto Stock Exchange) and Head of Talent Acquisition for RSA Group.

Hauck
Martin Hauck, Head of Talent, Coinsquare

Martin’s entire career has revolved around helping people find what they need. The first 11 years of his professional life were spent selling nuts and bolts to manufacturers and construction companies. His journey into recruitment began after being recruited by a recruiter to become a recruiter to recruit other people in the world of industrial goods. From there he started his own recruiting company and eventually hacked his way into recruiting for the tech/start-up/crypto world.

The last six years of his career has been sourcing, interviewing, hiring and optimizing for a delightful candidate experience for all kinds of positions. His latest challenge has been to help Coinsquare, Canada’s leading digital currency exchange scale from 40 people to over 150 in less than six months.

D’Oyen
Dave D’Oyen, Inclusion and Innovation Builder, Shopify

Dave D’Oyen is the Inclusion and Innovation Builder at Shopify, where he contributes to the development and execution of the diversity and inclusion strategy. He is also the Community Outreach and Consultation Advisor for Ontario’s Independent Street Checks Review, which is tasked with reviewing the province’s regulation to prevent arbitrary stops and ensure bias-free public-police interactions. Dave is a member of the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. He is also a member of the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto’s Community Advisory Committee to address the disproportionality in representation of and disparity in service to Black children and youth in care and their families.
