Lessons in Conversational AI – Creating Fran and Beyond

Benjamin Maxim, Assistant Vice President, Digital Strategy & Innovation, MSU Federal Credit Union

  • In October 2018, MSU Federal Credit Union launched Fran our first conversational AI Chatbot to serve our members with the goal of extending service hours to 24/7 and providing efficiencies for our live chat agents; will share our experience creating Fran
  • Since we have worked to expand Fran’s offerings and can share stats related to her success and lessons learned along the way
  • This summer we ran a test pilot for a different use case; we build what we call our CU Info Chatbot – it was an internally used chatbot that supports our employee knowledge base and supplements our internal employee helplines; the pilot was successful and I will share more details of the use case, employee feedback and some ROI data
  • This fall I will be working to scale the internal chatbot offering and will share that experience
  • Lastly, I will share future thoughts and dreams for what our chatbots could do for our employees and members including potential use cases
