Dan Ferguson in an Environmental Health Officer with the First Nations Health Authority. Environmental Health addresses all the physical, chemical and biological factors external to a person, and all related factors impacting behaviors. Dan holds a Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) and a Certificate in Emergency Management. He has 35 years’ experience in Environmental Public Health and environmental emergencies. Dan developed an Emergency Management program for an Environmental Public Health program of a Regional Health Authority and also has experience supporting hospitals and long term care facilities with emergency planning and training. Dan is married and has three adult children. In his free time he enjoys curling, golfing and soaking up the warm Kamloops sun.

Jennifer has spent the majority of her life in Emergency Services as an Advanced Care Paramedic and a Firefighter. She has several accolades including: being the First Aboriginal Woman to become a member of the Nova Scotia Firefighters Association, First Aboriginal Woman to graduate the Center for Emergency Medicine Paramedic Program, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and The First Canadian Aboriginal Woman to be appointed to the advisory board for the International Fire Relief Mission. Most recently Jennifer has won an International award for Critical Event Management through her work with the Emergency Alert System.

Michael has spent the majority of his career in emergency health services managing  in the  Municipal ,Provincial and third service models with a primary focus on the development and implementation of performance based Emergency Medical Services and Medical Oversight processes.   During his career, Michael has held senior leadership roles across Canada.  His prior experience includes: Charter member of the Northern Albert Institute of Technologies Emergency Paramedic program, Manager of Staff Development and Technical Services for the City of Calgary Emergency Medical Services Department, Director/Consultant  for Clinical Development and Disaster Planning Medavie EMS;  Vice President Provincial Operations for Emergency Medical Care , Director of Medical First Programming   for the Nova Scotia Department of Health, Chief Operating Officer for the Yukon Hospital Corporation; Director of Yukon Emergency Medical Services , and most recently as a Lead Emergency Management Advisor for the  Health Network in New Brunswick.  Michael has also consulted for the New Brunswick Department of Public Safety and the Nova Scotia Department of Health.

Michael is a graduate of Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Biology, and holds several related professional certificates, in Adult Education , Business Continuity Planning and an Honors Diploma in Emergency Prehospital Care.   Michael has been actively involved in various professional associations including the establishment of the International Rural and Remote Prehospital Care Collaborative, and a previous member of the Canadian Medical Association’s  Conjoint Committee on Accreditation, a charter member of the Emergency Medical Services Chiefs of Canada and he was the founder of the International Roundtable on Community Paramedicine.

Michael has spoken nationally and internationally on topics ranging from Quality and Performance Management to the Disaster Response, he is currently on the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch Standards committee on CBRN Surveillance and has previously assisted in the development of Health Canada’s Infection Control Guidelines on Health Care Facility Preparedness / Contingency Plans for Bioterrorism Events and the development of Health Canada’s Infection Control Precautions for Respiratory Infections Consensus Meeting for SARS Outbreak and non -SARS Outbreak Management Guideline review.

Kellyann Meloche is a Mohawk from the Kahnawake Mohawk Territory located just south of Montreal. She began her career in Emergency Management with the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake in 1993. The same year she also began her volunteer service with the Canadian Red Cross in the Emergency Services division. After joining the Kahnawake Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service, she also became a FireFighter and Emergency Medical Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, Confined Space Technician, and High Angle Rescue team member. After serving 18 years with the fire service she decided to start a Search and Rescue Team which now has 16 members. Kellyann spent a year working for Amerind Risks in Albuquerque, NM providing risk and emergency management services to Tribes throughout 11 central and western states in the US. Now in Kahnawake, she continues to work for her community, the Canadian Red Cross, and the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee and strives to assist any brother or sister community. In April of 2018, she received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers from Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada.

Ross Pratt was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and is also a member of the Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation in Treaty 4 Territory. He is the Great Great grandson of Charles Cowley Pratt (Interpreter at Treaty 4) and has carried on the tradition of the Treaty and Oral history. Through education and knowledge, Ross has been involved in volunteerism for the past 17 years in many different capacities. Through his interest in volunteerism and management, Ross has embarked on Emergency Management for the past 9 years with the Canadian Red Cross as Personal Disaster Assistance and Emergency Response Teams. Ross currently works for the George Gordon First Nation as the Emergency Management Coordinator. Areas of involvement are the Pandemic and Health, Emergency Management/Pandemic Planning, Communications, Search & Rescue, Mental Health, Safety and Well-Being, Volunteer Fire, Critical Incident Stress Management, 1st Responder and many Emergency Management Services training involved. In his downtime, he enjoys golf, leisurely travel, hiking and photography.

Londea is a Status First Nation from Tsal’alh (Seton Portage Band) St’at’imc Nation, and has many relatives from Nlaka’pamux Nation – Cooks Ferry Band. Londea is married to Curtis, is the mother of 3 and the grandmother of 6. As a 60’s scoop survivor, Londea grew up in Kamloops, but has since returned many times to her home land for teachings, sharing and cultural learnings.

Londea’s background has provided her with numerous learnings and opportunities that have focused on intergenerational and historical traumas, behavior and mental health concerns and healing practices. 20 years in criminal justice field with a strong focus on mental health and addictions, problem solving, suicide intervention/prevention, mental health first aid, and cognitive behavioral therapy. The past number of years have been with FNHA in Emergency Management, responding to emergencies and providing mental health and mental health and wellness support. Her passion is for holistic healing, and community integration comes from community, family and nations.

As a Mi’kmaq Acadia First Nation community member, Barry has held positions in both management and engineering roles in advanced development laboratories, anti-submarine warfare product design, HFcommunications, business development and consulting, training, product sales, and production management. At his last place of employment, he was V.P. of Operations. In 2001, Barry launched Stevens Solutions & Design Inc. (SS&DI) and has supplied communications and custom electronic hardware designs/software solutions for use in corporate communications, instruction and eLearning, security, defense, government agencies, global corporations, non-profits, and Indigenous organizations.

As SS&DI focused its R&D efforts to Climate Change adaptation visualization software, 3D Wave Design Mapping Solutions www.3dwavedesign.com was born. 3D Wave Design has developed close relationships with environmental, First Nations and applied geomatics research groups, particularly in relation to wildfire and inland flood risk assessments and global warming induced sea-level rise prediction and simulation. SS&DI/3DWave’s 3D proprietary LiDAR ingestion software/WebGL visualizations have been used by Atlantic Canadian towns, Municipalities and First Nation communities to demonstrate risks and to develop engineered mitigation solutions for council and public review. Peter Stevens is a bilingual First Nation Mi’kmaq who works as the Health & Safety Director & Emergency Management Coordinator with Membertou First Nation with 11 years experience in the Occupational Health & Safety Field. Peter has previous work experience working in Alberta’s Oil Fields where he gained vast knowledge in the field of Occupational Health & Safety. Peter focuses on integrating management systems in his organization with a focus on risk management and loss prevention. Peter has had the opportunity to work with his community of Membertou First Nation and has collaborated with local, provincial, federal governments to enhance emergency management in his area and has worked major events including Covid-19 Pandemic & most recently Hurricane Fiona.
