Elspeth has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. She joined OSFI in 2012 in the Life Insurance Group and is currently the Managing Director of the Operational Risk Division which is part of the Non-Financial Risk Group. Prior to OSFI, Elspeth held positions in reporting, planning, financial initiatives and capital at several large and medium-sized insurance companies.

Elspeth has a B.Sc. from McGill University and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business and has a CPA,CGA.

Sree’s global risk advisory experience includes most of the top tier global financial organizations and in the areas around IRM/GRC transformation, Third Party Risk, Cyber Security, Technology Risk, Regulatory Compliance, Enterprise & Operational Risk, and other risk facets within 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines. Sree’s focus area is leading large enterprise and cyber risk transformations and has been helping Canadian Financial Institutions in their journey since 2014. He also serves as lead alliance partner for MetricStream and is recognized by MetricStream as their #1 strategic implementation partner in Canada.

Sree’s prior role as a GRC practice lead for a Big 4 consulting firm, enabled large GRC transformations across Canada and led to the global center of excellence for a vendor solution platform. He was also lead GRC architect supporting global teams in successfully transforming and implementing risk and compliance programs within IRM/GRC solutions – ServiceNow, MetricStream, RSA Archer, IBM OpenPages and other platforms. Sree was one of the founding members of a Big 4 US GRC practice and served as technology advisor to various IRM/GRC products in designing their product suite framework and have done more than 100+ implementations globally.

Katherine Macpherson

Katherine started her career at OSFI and spent 13 years working across multiple departments, including as a Lead Supervisor for a portfolio of small deposit-takers during the global financial crisis, supporting the Lead Supervisors on multiple big banks and large insurers, building supervisory tools and processes, and leading focused and cross-sector benchmarking examinations during her time in the Operational Risk Department. She has practical first-hand experience across ever stage of the supervisory life-cycle, including staging and de-staging FRFIs.

Katherine left OSFI in 2013 and took on roles leading global operational risk management functions at two large Banks and a large insurance company, where she was also responsible for Third-Party Risk Management, oversight of BCM, and Cyber Risk Management & Information Security.

In 2018, Katherine joined EY where she successfully stood up a National Operational Risk practice in Canada and grew the Non-Financial Risk practice, which was largely focused on Financial Crime, to a sustainable mature practice that included ERM, Compliance, Culture and Conduct, Operational Resilience, TPRM, BCM and Crisis Management. As Associate Partner and National Non-Financial Leader, Katherine tripled the size of the NFR team in two years.

Katherine is on the advisory board and faculties at Osgoode’s RCM Certification Course, YorkU’s Department of Risk and Insurance Management, and Infonex Operational Risk conference. She also speaks at various regulatory events, including at OSFI and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision forums.

Chris Suknundun is currently the Managing Director and Head of the Technology Risk Division at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. In his current role, Chris has responsibility for the identification and monitoring of FRFI specific risks, industry-wide risks and/or sector specific trends and developments related to technology and cyber risks that may impact a FRFI’s operational resilience. With over 20 years in the financial services sector in Toronto, Chris has held various roles within the Information Technology spectrum. This includes technical and leadership roles in Technology and Cyber Security Operations, Technology Crime & Forensics, IT Audit and IT Risk Management. Chris holds a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.

Iain qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the UK and is a Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Risk Management Educational Foundation. Iain worked in senior positions as a regulator for ten years, firstly as a securities regulator at the London Stock Exchange and subsequently as an insurance regulator with the UK Financial Services Authority. Iain has held CRO positions with Prudential UK, Sun Life Financial UK, Quilter and Canada Life Europe. He spent three years in Toronto leading the global enterprise and operational risk function of Sun Life of Canada and is now Canadian CRO and Global Head of Operational Risk for Canada Life.
