Phil Curran is the founder and CEO of Newgrange Advisors, a consulting firm that helps clients maximize the return on their investment in human capital. He has been the CHRO of a multinational specialty insurance company and has held CHRO roles on an interim basis for organizations in insurance, healthcare, hospitality, and technology. His consulting career has provided him with the opportunity to advise hundreds of employers throughout North America and Europe on corporate culture, human capital management strategy, program design, and delivery. He has held practice leadership roles at several consultancies including Mercer, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Aon.
Mr. Curran’s passion is transforming organizations’ HR functions into catalysts for success. A strict adherent to Peter Drucker’s dictum that “You can’t manage what you can’t measure,” he has spent more than twenty years helping clients measure the ROI on human capital strategies and initiatives. He is a recognized leader and innovator in his field, having been named one of the “Top 10 Most Innovative CEOs to Watch” while his firm was named “Best Human Resource Consultancy” for 2022 by Acquisitions International. He is a frequent speaker and a prolific writer who shares his thoughts on leadership, leadership development, culture creation/transformation, employee engagement, and improving business’ ROI on their investment in human capital. He wrote a notable series of articles on HR adoption of AI. He is also a novelist with two published works to his credit.
Mr. Curran earned a BS in Business Administration and an MBA (with a concentration in Human Resource Management) from Trinity College. He holds many industry certifications including SHRM-SCP (Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional), Group Benefit Associate (through the International Foundation for Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania) and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (Life Office Management Association). He lives in the Washington, DC suburbs.

A founding partner of sports technology venture fund Intersect Ventures, which manages venture investments for top NBA players and other celebrities. As a thought leader, he has been featured in major media outlets such as CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, and Forbes. In his spare time, Fitzsimmons runs a film production company, MisFitz, and resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his family.
