Jesse lives in Halifax with his supportive and driven wife Erica, two strong and brave girls Viyella and Adalhia, and expecting his third early in 2022.
As a part of his current role, Jesse leads the business operations and development of a psychologically safe culture at Howatt HR. He also uses his in-depth knowledge of mental health in the workplace, aligning the employee experience and creating a psychological health and safety culture to support organizations across Canada in promoting mental health and preventing mental harm at work.
For the last 10+ years, Jesse has worked in the field of corporate health and performance in various roles, as a senior consultant and National Lead for Morneau Shepell’s Total Health Index (THI) Analytics team, where he utilized his ability to connect complex statistical analysis of mental health data to creating tangible impacts on business outcomes. As an exercise physiologist and sport psychologist for Olympic and developmental athletes he helped athletes maximize their performance.
Jesse was a key contributor to the development of the Psychologically Safe Workplace Award, a contributing author to various applied research papers on mental health, respect in the workplace, being a psychologically safe leader and collecting and analyzing mental health data with partners like The Globe and Mail, Mental Health Commission of Canada, The Conference Board of Canada, The HR Reporter and Morneau Shepell.
